Sgt Frank CAIRNS

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the death of Sgt Frank Cairns on Friday 17 Feb 2012.

Frank served in the Middlesex Regiment and with C Company 3rd Battalion the Queen’s Regiment.

His funeral will take place at 15.20 hrs Friday 2 March at Barham Crematorium, Canterbury Road (A260) Barham, Kent. CT4 6QU.

Following the Service a reception will be held at the Canterbury Conservative Club, St Margaret’s Street CT1 2TG

Pte Paul Donovan Garrick

Dear Colleague.

It is with great sadness that Regimental Headquarters has to announce the death of
Pte Paul Donovan Garrick on Friday 21st October 2011.

Paul served in the Queen’s Regiment. He died as a result of Colon Cancer.

His funeral service will take place at 11.00 hrs Monday 7th November at:
All Saints Church 100 Prince of Wales Drive Battersea London SW11 4BD

The family will have a wake afterwards.

Brigadier (Retd) John Charles Holman CBE DL

1st Battalion Queen's Regiment Brigadier John Holman CBE

It is with deep sadness that Regimental Headquarters has to announce the death of Brigadier John Holman this morning (Fri 7 Oct) in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Some years ago he was attacked by Hodgkin's Lymphoma but after expert treatment was able to enjoy a good period of remission. Sadly the cancer returned this year and further treatment has not been successful.

Brigadier John Holman saw operational service in Borneo, Cyprus, Northern Ireland, and commanded The 1st Battalion The Queen's Regiment.

He was Commander 2 Infantry Brigade; Secretary, SE TAVRA.

More recently, Brigadier Holman was Chairman of the Hythe Festival and Hythe Civic Society in Kent, being actively involved with Shepway District Council and was also a Deputy Lieutenant of the Lieutenancy of Kent.

Our thoughts are with his wife Penny and daughter, Louise.


 

L/Cpl Michael Sacre

It is with the deepest sadness that Regimental Headquarters has to announce the death of ex LCpl Michael Sacre on the 29th of September 2011.

Michael served with the 1st Battalion the Queen’s Regiment between Jan 1967 and Jun 1970.

He was the Commanding Officers driver and a member of the Battalion Boxing Team.

His funeral service will take place at 11.30 hrs Friday the 14th of October at Bilsington Church TN25 7JX (South of Ashford off Ham Street) and afterwards at The Warren Inn, Dymchurch Road, New Romney. TN28 8UF
